Common Causes of Knee Pain

Knees are tricky joints, they have to compensate for any vagaries in how our feet work whilst walking, soak up hip restrictions and compensate for stiff spines or tight muscles. They are beautifully made - 2 moon shaped cartilages atop our shin bone allow the bottom of the thigh bone to glide around, checked and balanced by ligaments and muscles. However there are so many possible sources of dysfunction - often the shin bone is positioned just slightly off it's centre or one of the thigh muscles may be pulling unevenly. The accumulation of small anomalies may over time lead to an unprovoked injury. Sorting these out and treating the knee with a view to improving local blood flow and nervous control of the joint can help enormously.
